Whether you’ve never attended a developer conference before, or if you’ve been around the circuit for years, occasionally they can be a lonely experience.
Devoxx UK tries to remove that feeling with the Buddies Program, brainchild of Java Champion and JDuchess founder Linda van der Pal.
If you are going to be at Devoxx UK but don’t know anyone, you can join the program and share your experience with others. If you are going and know a heap of people already, you can share your Devoxx experience with people or mentor less experienced conference goers and first-time attendees. Last year several Devoxx speakers joined the Buddies Program, offering people the chance to hang out with conference veterans.
Sign up and we’ll match you with two or three other people with similar interests. In each group, we try to include at least one person who has been to Devoxx UK before and knows their way around. There is a central meeting and information desk at the event where you can find and leave information on what your plans are. It’s also possible to switch in and out of groups to help you meet as many people as possible.
Together, you can discuss the sessions you’ve seen, grab a drink, have dinner, hack on projects… it’s up to you. It’s a way to truly enrich your conference experience and meet fellow enthusiasts.
