Thomas holds a PhD in Software Engineering from the University of Wales with specialization in software tool integration architectures. He worked for several years as a lecturer in Computer Science in the UK, where he had the opportunity to promote software engineering through his research and teaching work, received funding for research initiatives from various sources including the UK Department of Transport and Technology, collaborated with tech companies in technology transfer projects, published in international journals, and contributed in the organization of international events in science and technology. Upon his return to Athens, Thomas switched from academia to industry and focused on the delivery of software for backend corporate systems. His work spanned from developing Java-based software to supervising teams of developers. He was liaising with customers and assisting them in capturing their business needs, helped lines of business in their agile transformation processes and provided expertise to executive teams in setting their technology vision. He has extended experience in agile-based product development and has helped define and run scaled agile setups for large sets of project delivery teams. In his current capacity, Thomas contributes to the development and running of Code.Hub training programmes for IT and business professionals, as well as teaching university modules for the University of York in Athens through AthTech.
Scaling is often discussed in terms of technology, processes, and strategy. But in practice, it also depends on people, capabilities, and the ability to continuously adapt.
This session looks at scale from two connected perspectives: delivery and transformation. The first part focuses on the challenges of delivering at scale through extended capacity and the role of professional growth in supporting consistent execution. The second part explores how organizations can enable AI transformation at scale through capability building, upskilling and continuous learning.
Together, these two perspectives show that sustainable scale is not only about expanding delivery capacity, but also about creating the conditions for continuous evolution.
